“The number one thing fans want is affordability,” Moreno said Friday, via Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group. “They want affordability. They want safety, and they want a good experience when they come to the ballpark. Believe it or not, winning is not in their top five (priorities).”

Bowden followed up his faint praise by saying, “look, I’ve never understood after all these years why (the Angels) don’t try to win. Well, we just got the answer.”

Bowden went on to call the Angels a “spaghetti team,” comparing to Moreno’s team-building style to a method of cooking pasta.

“That’s what the Angels have been doing,” he said. “Look at what they did this offseason. They threw everything against the wall hoping a couple of these guys fit.

“And you wonder why we never cover them in the postseason. Well the owner just told you that. He doesn’t think that the fans think winning is important. Wow. That’s all I got, Trey, is wow.”

Bowden held the positions of senior vice president and general manager for both the Cincinnati Reds (1992-2003) and Washington Nationals (2004-09) before embarking on a media career.
