Sage Mardjetko pitches no-hitter for Tennessee softball

No. 1 Tennessee (14-0) concluded play in the Green and Gold Classic, hosted by UAB, at Mary Bowers Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sage Mardjetko (3-0) started for Tennessee pitched her first career no-hitter. She totaled 12 strikeouts and 81 pitches, including 52 strikes, against 16 batters.

Mardjetko allowed one walk and zero runs. Southern Illinois hit three groundouts in the contest.

Tennessee's offense recorded nine hits, including one home run from Maddi Rutan. Emma Clarke, Sophia Knight and Gabby Leach hit one double each for the Lady Vols.

Tennessee went 2-for-7 with two outs, 5-for-17 with runners on base and 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position. The Lady Vols also went 3-for-4 with runners on third base and less than two outs.

The Lady Vols will next host the Tennessee Invitational at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Tennessee's first game is slated for Friday against Appalachian State (3 p.m. EST, SEC Network+).
