The Purple and Gold lost 109-110 at the Crypto.com Arena after James missed an attempted game-winner.

Magic forward Paolo Banchero overshadowed the Lakers’ superstars, with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists on the night.

Bayless has since ranted about Doncic’s and James’ lackluster decision-making, which cost the Lakers victory.

Doncic decided against taking an open three with seconds on the clock and passed to James on the wing instead.

James then took a contested fadeaway three-pointer, which bounced off the rim and ended the game.

Bayless first lambasted Doncic for not taking the shot and then LeBron for making his attempt harder than it needed to be.

“Why didn’t Luka take the open 3 to win it? Because he was 2-10 from 3,” Bayless tweeted. “He’s a lousy 3-point shooter for a guy taking the second most in the NBA.

“So he dumped it to LeBron, who built in an excuse by making it absurdly hard, falling out of bounds, and missing badly.”

Doncic and James will need to iron out those late-game mistakes if they are serious about going on a deep postseason run.

Skip Bayless trusts Austin Reaves more than Luka Doncic and LeBron James

Bayless is convinced that Lakers head coach JJ Redick should not trust either of his two best players (Doncic and James) late in games.

He would rather see the third option, Austin Reaves, with the ball in his hands when it matters most.

“The player you can most trust to make big late-game-winners is Austin Reaves, forced to play 3rd fiddle to Luka and LeBron,” Bayless added.

Some might say that the Lakers are fortunate to have three difference-makers on the offensive end, but this does complicate late-game situations.
