LSU football in strong position for elite five-star cornerback

· Yahoo Sports

LSU football has a strong tradition of recruiting elite defensive backs and sending them to the NFL. Tigers' secondary coach Corey Raymond was the architect of "DBU" in the 2010s and is finding similar success in his third stint at LSU.

Raymond was retained by new head coach Lane Kiffin, and that's paying off when it comes to LSU's pursuit of an elite recruit.

Per the Rivals Prediction Machine, LSU has a 75.9% chance of landing five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson. Rivals ranks Dobson as the No. 7 overall recruit in the class of 2027. ESPN is even higher, ranking Dobson No. 5. He's a consensus top-two cornerback in the class.

Dobson attends William Amos Hough High School and hails from North Carolina, so this is a national recruitment for the Tigers, but we've seen Raymond land talented out-of-state defensive backs before.

LSU will have to fend off the top schools in the country, but the Tigers are in a good place with the priority target.
