Why Warriors' Draymond Green is all-in on Hawks' contentious strip club promotion

Draymond Green and Luke Kornet are in disagreement about "Magic City Monday."
Days after the San Antonio Spurs big man criticized the Atlanta Hawks for their upcoming promotion – in which they're partnering March 16 with the iconic Atlanta-based gentleman's club – the Golden State Warriors forward-center offered a differing opinion.

Kornet wrote about it in his newsletter Monday, calling for the partnership's cancellation: "The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world. We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners that we know and love.
"Allowing this night to go forward without protest would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community, specifically in being complicit in the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society," he wrote. Green's Golden State teammate Al Horford supported Kornet's messaging on X.
Green provided and explained his rebuttal on his eponymous podcast's Wednesday episode, first highlighting the strong relationships he has with the women in his life.
"I think to point out that they have esteem issues because that's the line of work (the dancers) chose, I actually think is less protective of women because you're condemning something that's actually an art," Green said. "If you see it in action, it's actually a form of art that some choose to indulge in and some choose not to indulge in. But to say that because a woman decides that's the art they want to partake in and that the customer wants to take in, I think is reflective of society's thoughts and how they once viewed things. But I don't necessarily think it's a hit on the esteem of women."
Green evoked dancer-turned-recording artist Cardi B – who played a concert last week at Chase Center that he said he attended – as an example.
"I don't think Cardi B has esteem issues," Green said, later noting respect for Kornet's feelings. "I think that's actually a negative vantage point on these women that are in this line of work."
The Warriors play the Hawks in Atlanta on March 21.
