The Red Devils have been repeatedly linked with several up-and-coming Premier League stars, especially Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba. The club is also monitoring other EPL stars like Sandro Tonali and Tyler Adams.
But in his latest appearance on the Talk of the Devil podcast, Man Utd insider Andy Mitten revealed interest in LaLiga midfielder.
Which Barcelona & Real Madrid stars could join Man United?
While United’s interest in the aforementioned EPL players has been confirmed once, Mitten talks about targets from Spain, who have yet to surface, but would certainly ‘raise eyebrows’, as the journalist put it.
So, the question remains, which LaLiga stars can be considered plausible targets for Man Utd?
Since Mitten is talking about eyebrow-raising players, one could only assume these would be renowned stars on the global stage, so all signs point towards the two El Clásico rivals.
At this stage, it is safe to deduct the likes of Jude Bellingham and Pedri, as Man Utd shouldn’t even bother trying for the two megastars, especially given their astronomical market values.
On the other hand, someone like Marc Casado could be more affordable. Interestingly, the Reds have already been linked with the Barcelona youth product, who has been dubbed ‘the new Busquets. The 22-year-old can be a natural replacement for Casemiro, and he might relish the opportunity to join United, where the competition for a starting berth isn’t as ferocious.
Fermin Lopez, Camavinga & Valverde have all been linked to Man Utd
In addition to Casado, Fermin Lopez is another La Masia product who probably feels he deserves more playing time than what he’s been afforded. The 22-year-old primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also feature as a No.8. However, with an estimated value of €70 million, the Spaniard certainly won’t come cheap.
And yet, Lopez wouldn’t cost nearly as much as Federico Valverde, the Real Madrid stalwart who recently emerged as a target for Man Utd. The 27-year-old is an almost complete midfielder capable of filling a variety of roles. Transfermarkt estimates his value at €120 million, so INEOS would require a major investment to land the Uruguayan international.
Finally, Eduardo Camavinga has been on MUFC’s shortlist for quite some time. The 23-year-old has been deployed in various roles since joining Real Madrid in 2021, including a full-back, but he recently expressed his desire to play as a No.6, which wouldn’t be an issue at United given that his previous mentor, Casemiro, will vacate this role in June.
