Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has bemoaned the defensive blows upon his team amid a four-game losing streak across all competitions.
The Soweto giants were stunned by Richards Bay in their last Betway Premiership outing, which saw them plummet to sixth place on the log standings with 30 points amassed from 18 matches.
Having failed to register a shot on target against the Natal RichBoyz, Kaze refused to blame the smaller playing surface at uMhlathuze Sports Complex, and attributed the defeat to the absence of key figures at the back.
“You need to play home and away games and that can't be an excuse for the performance we had today [Tuesday]. I believe that we were not good enough offensively, defensively as well we were not good enough,” he said.
"Probably to lose Miguel [Inacio] in the warm up and the suspension of Zitha [Kwinika] and you have to change the defence, it wasn't ideal and I think that's mostly what cost us the game, but we need to grind, we need to go back to work and find solutions.
The CAF A License holder went on to give a raving review about the 10,500-seater utilised by the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
“I thought that the venue is very nice, it's a very small stadium that allows the fans to be closer to the field, which means that the ambience is good, the field as well is in good shape and the only thing I can say is congratulations to Richards Bay for the three points,” Kaze added.
Chiefs will be looking to snap the winless run when they host ambitious Durban City in a league clash at FNB Stadium on Sunday, 15 March.
