The NFL free-agent signing period is just days away and many fans within Broncos Country are wondering which players the team will bring in this offseason, but what they do at wide receiver might be the No. 1 thing on their minds.
The Broncos have many options and though some of those have already disappeared with D.J. Moore being traded to the Buffalo Bills and George Pickens being given the franchise tag by the Dallas Cowboys. However, plenty of options are still out there.
On Friday, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reported that the team has interest in one particular free agent, and it might be a player no one has talked about in connection with the Broncos all offseason. That player would be Romeo Doubs of the Green Bay Packers.
"Doubs is a definite potential fit for the Broncos here; Denver has interest in the former Green Bay receiver, an NFL source told The Post. He’s a big-bodied target who doesn’t demand the ball but has good red-zone production and can play in a variety of alignments", wrote Evans.
Broncos, Romeo Doubs could be a fit in free agency
Doubs is a capable young NFL receiver, but he's far from the top-tier wide receiver many fans within Broncos Country are expecting the team to land this offseason. However, he would be much cheaper than a guy like Mike Evans and much easier to add to the roster than A.J. Brown or Jaylen Waddle.
Sean Payton has a knack for adding players to his roster who nobody expects to see him add, and this would be that kind of move.

A fourth-round pick out of Nevada in 2022, Doubs has 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons. Those aren't the flashiest numbers, but it's solid consistency. He might just be the kind of player Payton thinks he can get more out of in his offense and a strong addition to the team's wide receiver room.
