Joey Logano crash at Phoenix NASCAR race destroys polesitter's car

· Yahoo Sports

Phoenix NASCAR race polesitter Joey Logano was part of a multi-car crash that included Chase Elliott and A.J. Allmendinger in Stage 3 of the March 8 race at Phoenix Raceway.

Logano had sparked an earlier incident that ignited a crash that took Ross Chastain and Austin Cindric out of contention during the Straight Talk Wireless 500.

The latest Logano incident occurred with 59 laps remaining on Lap 254. It started when Logano moved up the track. He cut off Allmendinger, who got the right rear of Logano. That sent Logano sideways and up the track.

"I just ran out of space going into (Turn) 1," Logano said.

Logano's Team Penske Ford was destroyed in the crash, which ended with getting smashed by Josh Berry, who had no place to get away from hitting Logano.

"Wong place, wrong time," Berry said of the crash that ended his day.
