Jeremy Stephens returns to UFC (again) for veteran vs. veteran showdown

Jeremy Stephens is back – again.
In what is slightly uncharted territory, Stephens (29-22 MMA, 15-19 UFC) continues his alternation of BKFC and UFC bouts as he battles King Green. The lightweight bout takes place May 9 at UFC 328 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., the promotion announced Thursday.

Stephens most recently competed in the UFC in May 2025, after he sent a Hail Mary message to UFC CEO Dana White on Instagram, asking for an opportunity to fight in front of his home city of Des Moines, Iowa. White obliged, and Stephens signed a rare one-fight deal with the promotion. He lost by unanimous decision to Mason Jones. The bout was Stephens' first under the UFC banner since July 2021.
Following the loss, Stephens returned to BKFC, where he had been competing just prior to his UFC return. He fought Mike Perry and was finished late in Round 5.
But now Stephens is back in the UFC once again. He'll stand across from another significantly-experienced opponent in Green (34-17-1 MMA, 15-12-1 UFC), who, despite his age and longevity in the sport, has still found ways to win in recent outings.
Green, 39, is coming off back-to-back victories over Lance Gibson Jr. and Daniel Zellhuber.
The UFC 328 lineup now includes:
- Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland – for middleweight title
- Alexander Volkov vs. Waldo Cortes Acosta
- Sean Brady vs. Joaquin Buckley
- Jan Blachowicz vs. Bogdan Guskov
- King Green vs. Jeremy Stephens
- Ateba Gautier vs. Ozzy Diaz
- Roman Kopylov vs. Marco Tulio
- Clayton Carpenter vs. Jose Ochoa
