Following the altercation, Suarez discussed his thoughts on the conversation with Chastain to reporters on pit road. The Spire Motorsports driver didn't hold back his thoughts on his former Trackhouse Racing teammate.
“I was having a conversation, and [Ross Chastain] was all spun out,” Suarez said to reporters. “He’s just upset or something. I mean, for some reason, our relationship has been always very weird — almost like a little bit of two-faced on his part for some reason. And today I saw actually what I thought he had in his mind for a while. But, I mean, I don’t have any hard feelings to anyone. I’m just doing my thing, having a great time. But it just sounds like he thinks that way. But listen, at the end of the day, it’s not my first rodeo. I have had to go through a lot to be able to get to this point. And that’s just who I am, and that’s the journey I have had to take to be able to come from a different country. So it’s just part of it.”
This isn't the first time that Suarez and Chastain have exchanged words on pit road after a race, but it was more animated than ever. It will be fascinating to see how Suarez and Chastain race each other moving forward. Their relationship isn't as strong anymore, and Suarez is aware of that fact.
