They had won 12 games in a row coming into their Tuesday matchup against the Rip City Remix, a team they defeated 129-122 on Sunday. Early on, things looked good for South Bay when it built a 12-point lead near the end of the first quarter.

But the Remix roared back and cut South Bay's lead to 67-64 at halftime. They then took a 118-110 advantage with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter before Nick Smith Jr. scored seven late points to help force overtime.

The Lakers' luck ran out in overtime, as they failed to score a single point there and ended up losing, 133-126.

Smith finished with 25 points, five rebounds and seven assists, while R.J. Davis had 29 points and five assists. The Lakers had seven players score in double figures, including center Malik Williams, who turned in 24 points on 9-of-14 field-goal shooting and 4-of-8 from 3-point range.

South Bay was outrebounded by nine on Tuesday, and even worse, it allowed the Remix to shoot 61.5% from the field, although it did manage to force 21 turnovers.

The team is still in first place in the G League's Western Conference, although it does have the same 22-9 record as the Mexico City Capitanes.
