Nebraska and Vanderbilt delivered an instant classic, as the Cornhuskers survived the Commodores 70-68 in the final seconds.
Nebraska took the lead with less than three seconds in the game, but Vanderbilt still had a chance to win the game. It was up to Tyler Tanner to try and make magic happen, and the star guard almost did.

Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner almost became a March Madness legend, as his buzzer-beater attempt against Nebraska rimmed out. The play came with less than three second left, as Tanner had to get a quick shot off before time expired.
Tanner's shot banked off the glass and rattled around the rim before finally falling off. It broke the hearts of Vanderbilt fans while Nebraska fans were able to breath sighs of relief.

The broadcast showed several angles of the shot, and each of them shows just how close the ball as to going in the hoop. In the end, Vanderbilt comes up just short of making the Sweet 16, while Nerbaska is headed to the second weekend for the first time ever.

Who is Tyler Tanner?
Tyler Tanner is a sophomore point guard who spent each of the last two seasons at Vanderbilt. In his freshman year, Tanner came off the bench for 33 games, but he took a big step in his game this year, starting all 35 games for the Commodores.
Tanner was originally a three-star recruit out of Brentwood, Tennessee when he signed with Vanderbilt in 2024. On the year, Tanner has averaged 19.3 points and 5.3 assists per game while playing in 33.3 minutes per game, leading the team in all three categories.
