Former Cincinnati coach Wes Miller lands a new mid-major gig

It didn't take long for Wes Miller to land on his feet after his firing at Cincinnati.
The former Bearcats coach was announced as the next head coach at Charlotte on Monday. He replaces Aaron Fearne, who was fired after three seasons earlier this month.

The move brings Miller, a Greensboro native, back to his home state of North Carolina. The former UNC guard's first coaching job came at UNC Greensboro, where he led the team to the NCAA tournament in 2018 and 2021.
That landed him the job at Cincinnati, where he had five winning records in five seasons but failed to reach March Madness. After the Bearcats made the move to the Big 12, he never finished with a record above .500 in conference play, with the best finish being a 9-9 campaign this past season, in which Cincy was just 18-15 overall.

Miller left Cincy with a 100-74 overall record.
Now, he joins a 49ers program that is looking for its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2005. Charlotte's last March Madness win came in 2001.
