ECoR Honours Two Railway Employees for Outstanding Alertness in Ensuring Train Safety

East Coast Railway General Manager Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal honoured two railway employees for their exceptional alertness and dedication in ensuring safe train operations.
The awardees are Sri Srinivas Bhoi, Track Maintainer-II of Loisingha under Sambalpur Division and Sri Dhirendra Kumar Jena, Loco Pilot (Passenger) of Puri under Khurda Road Division recognised for their timely actions and presence of mind in averting potential safety hazards.

On 17th February 2026, while performing Keyman duty between Loisingha and Balangir, Sri Srinivas Bhoi detected an abnormality in the wheel of a passing train, which was not rotating and was emitting sparks. He promptly informed the Station Superintendent, leading to immediate control of the train. Upon inspection, a locked axle and severe wheel defect were identified, thereby preventing a possible major mishap.
Similarly, on 4th March 2026, while operating a MEMU train from Puri to Khurda Road, Sri Dhirendra Kumar Jena noticed track buckling between Malatipatpur and Sakhigopal. Demonstrating utmost vigilance, he immediately stopped the train and informed the concerned officials. The track was subsequently repaired, ensuring safe resumption of train services.
Their swift response and professional commitment played a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of railway operations.
While presenting the awards, Shri Funkwal commended their dedication and emphasised the importance of alertness among frontline staff. He stated that their vigilance and timely actions are vital in ensuring safe and uninterrupted train operations across the network.
