The Atlanta Braves enter the season somewhat derailed by injuries once again, an issue they’ve dealt with in recent years. The Braves could also use some more talent, and that could come in the form of New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe.

With the Braves looking for an infielder and Volpe still being young and cheap, he’s not the worst option to consider. While he’s struggled a good bit, there’s reason to believe he could be serviceable in Atlanta.

FanSided’s Mark Powell proposed the idea, adding that he could be struggling in New York due to pressure.

“There are plenty of teams that might take a chance on Volpe. Not everyone can achieve greatness in New York City, especially not when they're anointed before reaching the big leagues. The Atlanta Braves make a lot of sense as a possible landing spot. Mauricio Dubon is their starting shortstop. Ozzie Albies, fresh off an impressive World Baseball Classic, will hit free agency in the next couple of years,” he wrote.

With Ozzie Albies set to hit the free agency market and other options not exactly being ideal, Volpe could work.

For the Yankees, though, this would be them admitting that they were wrong on Volpe. Trading Volpe would come with a lot of backlash about what they could’ve had if they did the right thing a few years ago.
