Saints put contested catch king Keontez Lewis through private workout

· Yahoo Sports

2026 has been very kind to the New Orleans Saints and their fans so far, with the front office making multiple moves to supplement an up-and-coming roster. After finding their head coach and quarterback pairing last offseason, this year has been more focused on helping the run game and facilitating a dual-headed offensive attack alongside Tyler Shough.

What makes that interesting is that now their focus on the draft will be at a few specific positions more than likely, including wide receiver, cornerback, defensive end, and potentially defensive tackle. Their pre-draft meetings tie into this, as they continue to meet with various receivers, this time hosting Oklahoma prospect Keontez Lewis on a private workout.

Lewis had a significant amount of interest during his pro day and ahead of it, and the Saints were involved both times, meeting with the receiver prior to this event as well.

Lewis is a big-body, deep threat who has pretty strong contested catch capabilities, making him a really fun potential pairing alongside Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele for 2026 and beyond. 2024 was his breakout year with Southern Illinois. He posted 49 receptions for 790 yards and 5 touchdowns, giving him a bigger opportunity with Oklahoma in 2025.

While his production dropped, as expected, his efficiency was still quite impressive, as he put up 21 receptions for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns. At 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, he can handle contact well and would be a good over-the-middle threat for the Saints if they decide to select him in the draft.
