WWE Creative Divided on Seth Rollins vs. Gunther WrestleMania 42 Booking?

While many wrestling fans are excited about the idea of top WWE Raw stars Seth Rollins and Gunther facing off at WrestleMania 42, it seems there are some on the company’s creative team who are not in favor of the booking.

A little over a month ago, WWE fans weren’t even sure if Rollins would be available for this year’s WrestleMania after suffering a significant shoulder injury in October. However, since this year’s Elimination Chamber, The Vision founder has made an impact on episodes of Monday Night Raw as he continues to get revenge on his former faction members.
It has created a lot of speculation on who he will face at this month’s mega-event. Recent reports suggested it would be the man who kicked him out of The Vision, Bron Breakker, if he could recover from a hernia in time. However, the creative took an unexpected pivot this week, and instead, we will get Rollins vs. Gunther at ‘Mania after the “Career Killer” attacked “The Visionary” on Monday’s show.

Credit: WWEThe matchup is unexpected, but on paper, it could be an absolute show stealer, and it is the first time the two will face off in a ring. However, it seems not everyone on the creative team was on board with the decision. According to a new edition of Wrestle Votes Radio, the choice for Gunther to be Rollins’ foe was just finalized last week.
Furthermore, they report that some on the creative team were firmly against the decision. They preferred to go full steam ahead with their war against Paul Heyman and the remaining members of The Vision, who are able to compete.
The report adds that Breakker is close to being cleared and seems on track to be available for the show. However, another major reason to do the bout is a push to make sure that Gunther was on the card after he had been heavily pushed by the company over the last six months.
Heyman is expected to still be involved with the storyline even though Gunther is not aligned with The Vision.
