In a recent press release, SANParks confirmed that the Kranshoek Viewpoint will be closed until 31 May 2026.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”
KNYSNA’S TOURIST HOTSPOT
Forming part of the Knysna section of the Garden Route National Park, the Kranshoek Viewpoint is a favourite among travellers, hikers and nature lovers. Its renowned features include its cliffs, stunning sea vantage points and carpets of forest greenery.
This destination offers a wide variety of activities, including picnicking, photography, horse-riding and mountain-biking.
For those travelling along the southern Cape coast, Kranshoek is an ideal spot to stop at. Here, you can take a rest and bask in the beauty of Mother Nature before continuing on their journey.
Kranshoek is also renowned for its nine-kilometre hiking trail, which offers hikers a treasure trove of natural wonders.
“It starts at the Kranshoek picnic site at the top of a tall waterfall, then winds its way through the forest down into the gorge through which the waterfall’s stream flows,” per Garden Route Adventure Guide. “It follows this stream towards the coast and then leads along the coast before going up the slopes to the plateau and back to the picnic site via the Kranshoek Viewpoint.
“On this trail, you’ll get to see a bit of everything our beautiful area has to offer. From indigenous forests to fynbos to breathtaking coastal views, the Kranshoek trail has it all.”
