Is there a chance Collin Chandler will return to Kentucky?

· Yahoo Sports

Prior to the opening of the transfer portal, people were split on whether or not Collin Chandler would wind up staying with the Kentucky Wildcats. Rumors stated that he wanted to go back closer to home, but his loyalty to Mark Pope was certainly worthy of mentioning.

Chandler did enter the portal, and BYU quicky became the predicted landing spot, as expected. It's the logical choice, but is it a done deal? As the great Lee Corso would say: Not so fast my friend.

Joe Tipton on On3 is reporting that the door to return to Kentucky is still open, saying:

BYU is the frontrunner for Kentucky transfer Collin Chandler. However he has left the door open to a possible return to Kentucky depending on how conversations go in the coming days.

The conversation could center around money. There was talk that Chandler wanted an amount that Kentucky wasn't comfortable with, though that was just another rumor. Chandler was an important player this past season for the Wildcats. He averaged 9.7 points per game and made 41% of his three-pointers, including a number in clutch situations, earning the nickname Captain Clutch.

It's still likely that Chandler will wind up at BYU next season. His desire to be close to his family will almost certainly win out, but if Kentucky makes a big offer, there's a chance that changes. We'll update the story as it develops.
