Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an agreement with corner back Chase Lucas on a one year deal according to his agent Jamal Tooson.

Chase Lucas played with the 49ers for a season in 2023 but was cut by them leaving him as an unrestricted free agent. It is completely up to the 49ers to release him. Todd Bowles is glad he got a chance to make the best out of it.

He joins a secondary that really needed some numbers

Lucas played a total of 33 games in the NFL after being drafted by Detroit as a seventh-round draft pick in the 2022 draft, with 15 tackles and a pass defensed.

Before joining the 49ers, he spent two seasons with Detroit mostly playing on the special team. Similarly, with San Francisco, he played on 53 percent of their special teams snaps last season.

His stats from last season say it all for him. He played in 98 snaps on defense and 204 on special teams. Over half of their special teams snaps. That's what kind of player he currently is.

Losing Jamel Dean to Pittsburgh during free agency after seven years complicated things for the Buccaneers even further. The replacement of starting corners is their biggest priority, which this signing will not help.

Kemon Hall, the 3rd-year cornerback from the University of Florida, also joined the team on Thursday. Lucas and Hall compete for depth positions against the McCollum, Morrison, and Parrish trio in the cornerbacks' room.
