Hundreds of plane through Augusta, Georgia every year for one of the biggest golf events, and the 2026 Masters private jet traffic is seeing another record for travelers.

The Georgia city boasts a population of roughly 200,000 citizens, but the Masters Tournament presents a significant increase in traffic. However, the demand for visitors to get into Augusta National is causing the local airport to expand its venue.

Sports business guru Joe Pompliano reported on this year’s Masters private jet traffic as over 1,500 planes visit Augusta. However, Pomliano points out that one specific private jet company is thriving with golf supporters’ increased love for the event.
Everyone talks about 1,500+ private jets visiting Augusta for the Masters, but NetJets is the best example of how meaningful this week is for operators.

NetJets is increasing its yearly private jets travel to the Masters, and that includes 775 planes visiting Georgia in April 2026.
Augusta saw major private jet increase for Masters
Meanwhile, Pompliano also reports that the company is helping fund a major expansion at Augusta Regional Airport (AGS). The public airport mainly sees increased traffic yearly strictly due to the private airfield for luxury travelers.
NetJets reportedly proposed a $50 to $100 million expansion on a single terminal at the airport in order to accommodate the huge interest that fans have in attending the Masters. The exclusive tournament is expected to do over $70 million in merchandise sales in 2026 alone.

However, Augusta Regional Airport does fly to several major airports in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, including Atlanta, Charlotte and Washington D.C.

Reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy even spilled his secret to his 2026 Masters success on Friday. That involves regularly traveling to Augusta in the lead up to the tournament by flying up for day trips from his home in Florida.
McIlroy is one of many notable golfers that travels to and from Augusta throughout the year as an exclusive member. Golf insiders expect that there are roughly 300 permanent members at the iconic golf course.
