Three-star safety chooses Big Ten rival over Wisconsin

Three-star safety Jonathan Galette revealed his decision, and it's one that Wisconsin Badgers fans won't be too thrilled with.

Head coach Luke Fickell hasn't had a problem recruiting in-state talent for his Class of 2027, but he let another tremendous athlete slip away from him.

Galette, who currently plays for St. Joseph Regional in Montvale, NJ, officially committed to Penn State.

On3's Hayes Fawcett broke the news as the Badgers made Galette's top three, but ultimately he went with the Nittany Lions over Wisconsin and Syracuse.

Galette still has an official visit planned with Wisconsin on May 29. He'll head to the Nittany Lions on June 12, but if he still comes to Madison at the end of May, that could be the opportunity the Badgers need to flip his commitment.

According to 247Sports, Wisconsin offered back on January 23, 2025, while Penn State didn't extend its offer until December 30, 2025. The Badgers had nearly a year's head start on New Jersey's No. 17-ranked player, but not even that was enough to get the job done.
