Kentucky could hear a decision from 2026 recruit Tyran Stokes soon
· Yahoo Sports
Mark Pope's legacy with the Kentucky Wildcats will be forever linked with the name of Tyran Stokes. The past year has seen Kentucky target the No. 1 overall recruit in this class, be the favorite to land him, and fall behind. It has been a wild ride, but one that finally may be coming to and end.
On Saturday, Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 reported that a Stokes commitment could be coming soon.

I was told by one source close to the situation that Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 player in the country, could announce his decision on Monday.

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Stokes choosing between Kansas and Kentucky.
A commitment from Stokes, one way or another, would finally end Pope's pursuit, which may have hamstrung Kentucky's recruitment of other players. Landing him would be a big win, especially for the embattled Wildcats coach, while losing him to Kansas would enable Kentucky to to after some of the other big names left in the transfer portal.
Kentucky needs more talent, and they need a dominant scorer. Stokes can certainly be that type of player, wherever he winds up. Just as importantly, Pope needs an answer, so he can fill the roster.
As Goodman note, this is still just a rumor. Stokes has not said he will announce his decision at any certain time. For Kentucky, the sooner the better, though.
