New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler is in the middle of an incredible season. The right-hander made his debut last year and has become a vital cog of the rotation.

Schlittler made his latest start against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, throwing six scoreless frames along with eight strikeouts against just two walks. Including this start, the right-hander has lowered his career ERA further to 2.43, which is the lowest by a Yankees starting pitcher through the first 21 games since 1968.

Schlittler's numbers are just absolutely jaw-dropping this season. After 41.2 innings, he is tied with 49 strikeouts in the AL, comes second with 1.51 ERA, first with 0.74 WHIP and fourth with .168 BAA.

Despite missing Carlos Rodon and Gerrit Cole, Cam Schlittler has proven to be the anchor of the rotation this season. One can imagine how it would be once both Rodon and Cole return.

As for the game on Tuesday, the Yankees are leading 2-0 at the end of eighth inning. Schlittler outdueled Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom, who gave up three hits for one earned run while punching out five hitters. Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger drove in a run in the first inning, followed by Austin Wells' solo home run in the seventh inning.

Assuming the Yankees don't mess it up in the final inning, they would improve to 20-10 on the season, extending their strong position in the AL East.
