Welch transferred to Arizona from Memphis this past season. In her one year as a Wildcat, Welch started 18 games while averaging 8.7 points with splits of 46/32/72. In addition to her scoring, she averaged 5.2 points, 1.1 assists and 1 steal per game.

She hit a hot streak during late December into early January, scoring double-digit points in six straight games. This included a season-high 19 points against Texas Tech on an efficient 9-12 shooting while pulling in nine rebounds.

However, this wasn’t her career-high. This came during her sophomore year at Memphis, scoring 21 points on three separate occasions. During Welch’s final year at Memphis, she averaged 10.7 points and 4.4 rebounds while dishing out a 3.1 assists. She missed a year of action while at Memphis during the 2023-24 season after tearing her ACL.

Welch is originally from Indianapolis, playing high school at North Central. She received First-Team All-State honors while also pouring in over 1,000 career points.

Welch serves as a major addition to the roster, bringing in the talent and expertise to replace Shannon Dowell’s departure and fit right into that starting lineup. Plus she brings some much-needed wisdom to the roster, as one of four seniors on the Tigers’ roster. Welch is lucky No. 13 on the roster, giving Mizzou some much-needed depth with injuries stole away last season. While the starting center position is still up in the air, it appears that the rest of the roster is filling out quite nicely.
