CBS Sports teases Iowa football rematch in post-spring bowl projection

· Yahoo Sports

Spring ball has just wrapped up, and training camp is still over two months away, but the college football world is never one to think it is too early to look ahead. In fact, some are already looking at what could lie ahead in the 2026 bowl season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes, a staple in bowl season under Kirk Ferentz, figure to be playing in the postseason each year, with the only question remaining where they will play and who they will be against. Iowa has College Football Playoff hopes, which would cross off one of Ferentz's last remaining targets, but others have them bowling.

CBS Sports released its post-spring bowl projections and pitted the Hawkeyes against the Missouri Tigers from the SEC in the Music City Bowl, a rematch from two years ago, when Missouri won 27-24, a game that left a sour taste in the Hawkeyes' mouths.

The Hawkeyes held a 21-14 lead at halftime, and even led 24-14 in the third quarter, before squandering a double-digit lead, which was somewhat of a trend for the 2024 Iowa Hawkeyes squad.

Iowa and Missouri have met 14 total times, with the Tigers holding an 8-6 advantage.
