The state-of-the-art Video Surveillance System (VSS) at KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station has been successfully commissioned on 13.05.2026, marking a major milestone in strengthening railway security infrastructure and passenger safety through advanced surveillance technologies.
The VSS has been implemented to provide comprehensive surveillance coverage across the entire station premises, including station entrances and exits, circulating areas, booking offices, reservation halls, concourses, platforms, subways, FOBs, waiting halls, and other vulnerable locations. The system enables continuous monitoring of passenger movement and station activities round the clock.

Under the project, 168 IP-based high-definition CCTV cameras have been installed in accordance with RDSO specifications to ensure reliable and high-quality surveillance coverage throughout the station.
The system is integrated with an advanced Video Management System (VMS) and Video Analytics (VA) features for intelligent monitoring and enhanced situational awareness. The video analytic feature facilitates automatic detection and alerts for predefined security events and abnormal activities, thereby assisting security personnel in proactive monitoring and faster response.
The VSS is also integrated with Facial Recognition Software (FRS) for strengthening security surveillance and identification capabilities. As part of the implementation, a database containing 1086 criminal records has been updated in the FRS platform to support security agencies in monitoring and identification of suspicious persons.
A modern 20 ft × 9 ft video wall has been commissioned at the monitoring centre for real-time surveillance by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The centralized monitoring arrangement enables efficient supervision of station activities and rapid incident response.
The entire VSS network and associated systems have undergone comprehensive cybersecurity audit by STQC Bengaluru, and the system has been certified with a Zero Vulnerability Report, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and information security requirements.
Further, all network switches deployed in the system have been cleared through the Telecom Trusted Portal (TTP) in line with Government of India guidelines for trusted telecom products.
The commissioning of the state-of-the-art VSS at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station represents a significant step towards modernization of railway security systems and adoption of intelligent surveillance solutions for safer, smarter, and more secure railway operations.
