However, the fact that he has a great chance to win on Sunday is a testament to his almost unrivalled mental strength, unerring patience and incredible course management.

Scheffler will play alongside Si Woo Kim in the final group at the CJ CUP on Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch.

That should be an incredibly comfortable pairing for both players, given the close friendship they share away from the golf course.

What Scottie Scheffler thought of the fans at the CJ CUP on Saturday

Scheffler is obviously a huge hometown favorite this week at TPC Craig Ranch.

However, Si Woo Kim has his fair share of support as well due to the fact that he also resides in Dallas, Texas.

The crowds today? Yeah, I feel like this tournament always has a pretty good energy, the world number one said.

We get a nice turnout, especially when you get some local guys in the same group. Yeah, I thought it was good energy.

Scheffler will receive huge support on Sunday in his home state, and the atmosphere should be electric as he battles Si Woo Kim and Wyndham Clark for the title.

What Scottie Scheffler has to improve if he is to win the CJ CUP

While Scheffler hasn’t been at his best this week at TPC Craig Ranch, his game has been in fine working order.

His ball-striking has been closer to what we expect from him, and he is ranked 18th in strokes gained off the tee and seventh in strokes gained approach.

The world number one has putted beautifully this week on the whole, and is ranked ninth in strokes gained on the greens.

However, Scottie Scheffler will have to chip and pitch the ball better on Sunday if he is to win the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

The 29-year-old is ranked 39th in strokes gained around the green through three rounds at TPC Craig Ranch, and that is highly unusual for him.

That said, he has only missed six greens in regulation all week, so he will be hoping that he doesn’t even need to chip or pitch around the greens on Sunday, perhaps aside from on the par-fives.
