After the 2025 NFL season, the New Orleans Saints had seen enough from rookie quarterback Tyler Shough to go about their entire offseason with the plan to build around him.

They added Travis Etienne Jr. and David Edwards in free agency, along with drafting Jordyn Tyson in Round 1 to give Shough a new top receiver. The Saints are buying into Shough's promising rookie season.

But that doesn't mean there aren't questions for the Saints QB heading into his sophomore season. Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon identified one question for Shough, but it's a bit overblown from his college days: injuries.

Saints face odd Tyler Shough question after impressive rookie year

"Tyler Shoguh, New Orleans Saints: Can he hold up for a full season under the microscope?" Gagnon writes. "... For Shough, the question isn't just if he can keep producing, but if he can remain on the field considering his significant injury history in college."

Gagnon called out injuries as the biggest question for Shough heading into his second season. But, considering he wasn't dealing with injuries like another rookie QB, Jaxson Dart, dealt with last year, this question for Shough is an odd one.

During his college days, he sustained a broken collarbone in 2021 and had the same injury again in 2022. Then, in 2023, he had a broken fibula.

Those are all serious injuries, but they aren't the kind of issues that could lead to some significant concerns in the NFL. If they were Achilles, ACL, shoulder, arm, or even hand issues, then it would make sense for there to be real concern about Shough.

Instead of being questioned about his injury history, the bigger question for Shough should be whether he can make the jump from being a decent QB to becoming a star in the NFL.

If he can take fewer sacks and throw fewer interceptions over a full season, Shough could turn into one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Shough's injury issues from his college days might've been a concern for the NFL Draft, but now that he's in the NFL and has already thrived, they aren't a real problem.

Instead of these overblown injury issues from his college days being the biggest question for Shough heading into his sophomore season, it should instead be how good Shough can be with this improved offensive environment in 2026.
