“South Africa has my heart ❤️ I recharged my soul and had the time of my life. 🙏🏻

“This was our first safari of the trip in Madikwe. Saw all of the big 5 in the first 3 days! Will post more soon. Xx,” Vonn wrote on social media.

‘Big Five’

Vonn visited Madikwe Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s world-renowned safari destinations, where she was able to spot the famous ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo – within three days.

Vonn’s post was warmly met from South African fans, many of whom welcomed her to the country.

The 41-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time.

During her illustrious career, she won Olympic gold, four World Cup titles and established herself as one of the most successful female skiers in history.

Advocate for travel

Away from the slopes, Lindsey Vonn has become an advocate for travel, wellness and outdoor experiences, often sharing glimpses of her adventures with millions of followers around the world.

Her latest visit highlights South Africa’s continued appeal as a leading international tourism destination, particularly for visitors seeking world-class wildlife encounters and luxury safari experiences.

Vonn suffered a devastating fall during the women’s downhill at the Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo in February this year and is currently recovering from a broken left leg with injuries including a complex tibia fracture as well as a fracture of the fibular head and tibial plateau.
