Florida to spend jaw-dropping figure on Ben Hill Griffin Stadium renovation: Details
· Yahoo Sports
Florida has unveiled the most expensive renovation in college sports history.
The school’s projected investment for renovating Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is set at $1.45 billion, the University Athletic Association (UAA) announced in a release on Thursday, June 11. Funding will come from a combination of private donations, capital reserves, and long-term debt, subject to approval by the Florida Board of Governors.

The renovation will improve entrances, wider concourses, easier seat access, upgraded food and beverages options, expanded concession offerings, faster service and enhanced connectivity with additional seating choices. The stadium capacity and Orange Wing Walls will remain in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
By comparison, Northwestern is currently building a $862 million stadium for its football program, while Penn State is renovating its stadium for $700 million.
The initial proposal back in 2018 was listed at $400 million, but rising costs, coupled with UF's efforts to maintain the stadium's historical aspects, raised the total price.
Bigger. Better. Louder.

Construction is set to begin after the 2026 season and be finished prior to the 2030 offseason.
