The Lady Eagles recently released a schedule packed with familiar rivals, tournament appearances and a demanding district slate that will challenge them from opening day through Senior Night.
Sequoyah will begin preparations with a trio of preseason scrimmages, hosting Mannford on July 28 before traveling to Jay on Aug. 4 and Booker T. Washington on Aug. 6.
The regular season officially opens Aug. 10 with a road trip to Salina, followed by the first district contest of the year one day later when Dewey visits Sequoyah.
District play arrives early and often.
The Lady Eagles will face Dewey twice within the first week of the season, with the return trip scheduled for Aug. 17. A road district game at Adair follows Aug. 18 before Sequoyah returns home to face Lincoln Christian on Aug. 24.
Between district contests, Sequoyah will participate in the Nowata Tournament on Aug. 14-15 and host the annual Sequoyah Festival Tournament on Aug. 21-22, one of the marquee events on the local softball calendar.
Nondistrict matchups against Rejoice Christian, Inola and Nowata round out a busy August schedule before the Lady Eagles close the month with a district road trip to Kansas on Aug. 31.
September begins with another important district contest at Lincoln Christian on Sept. 1.
Additional district games include Salina on Sept. 8, Commerce on Sept. 10 and Sept. 22, Adair on Sept. 14 and Kansas on Sept. 15. Those contests figure to play a major role in determining the district race and postseason positioning.
Outside of district competition, Sequoyah will face a variety of opponents from across northeastern Oklahoma, including NOAH, Rejoice Christian, Wyandotte, Jay, Mannford, Inola and Beggs.
The Lady Eagles will also compete in the Oklahoma Union Tournament on Sept. 17 and Sept. 19, giving them a third tournament opportunity during the regular season.
One notable stretch comes in mid-September when Sequoyah plays four district games in an eight-day span against Salina, Commerce, Adair and Kansas.
The regular season concludes with a home-heavy finish featuring Jay on Sept. 24, Inola on Sept. 28 and Beggs on Sept. 29. The Beggs matchup will serve as Senior Night.
