A 17-year-old victim was shot in the foot at the intersection of 43rd Street and Broadway, near the center of Times Square, police said in a statement.
The teenager, whose condition was not disclosed on Sunday, June 14, had to be rushed to a hospital in a police cruiser because an ambulance could not squeeze through the mob on 43rd Street, authorities said.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, and three people of interest were in police custody for questioning about the shooting.
The NYPD said there were also four stabbings amid the bedlam and that 10 police officers were injured. One officer was punched in the face, and another was struck with a glass bottle.
Sixty-three arrests were made as a result of the celebrations, on charges ranging from criminal mischief and disorderly conduct to assault on a police officer, police said. During the Knicks game, unruly fans swarmed the area north of Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan, between Fifth and Ninth avenues.
“It’s estimated that those crowds ultimately grew to tens of thousands of people,” said the NYPD. “As the game progressed, and then following the game, the crowds became increasingly destructive, and there were many incidents of incredibly reckless and dangerous behavior.”

Authorities said five police cruisers were badly damaged by vandals, who wielded baseball bats and shattered windshields.
In addition, police said, five school buses were lit on fire and destroyed. They were used to transport soccer fans to and from the city and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford for FIFA World Cup 2026, which began there with an opening round match on Saturday.
The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 94-90, to win the third league title in team history and its first in 53 years.
