And to wrap this section up, the trade that almost was.
The NHL almost got a Cutter Gauthier for Bowen Byram blockbuster. 🤯

Before trading Gauthier to the Ducks, Philadelphia reportedly discussed a 1-for-1 deal with Colorado, per @frank_seravalli 👀
Could you imagine Gauthier on the Avs??? pic.twitter.com/f448ijS8Wv
Back when Cutter Gauthier was still a Flyers prospect, a deal involving Gauthier to the Avalanche for Bowen Byram was discussed, per Frank Seravalli. That trade would have given the Avs a forward group that is simply unfair.
I do wonder how much interest the Flyers still have in Bowen Byram. With the Flyers wanting to upgrade at the blueline and the Sabres likely needing to free up some cap space, I am curious if Byram is a player that the Flyers could revisit.
NHL Trade Rumors & News
Yahoo: We mentioned the Sabers need to free up money, and Bowen Byram could be someone sold to free up the space. Buffalo would like to, and should extend pending RFA Alex Tuch, but could Buffalo go down a different route and trade Owen Power to free up cap space?
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: We had one of the first trades of the summer on Monday. The Pittsburgh Penguins dealt defensive prospect Emil Pieniniemi to the Florida Panthers for 26-year-old Oliver Okulair. Dan Kingerski breaks down the deal.
Boston Hockey Now: The Bruins are in need of a No. 1 center. While some big names are available, the realistic names are a thin market. That’s why Vincent Trochceck remains on the Bruins’ radar. Jack Studley has the latest on the Bruins trade talk.
New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils and captain Nico Hischier can sign an extension on July 1st to keep him from becoming a free agent next summer. The reported number is quite high, but James Nichols writes that it should not worry Devils fans.
Also in Jersey, could Jacob Markstrom be on the move? Kevin Weekes reports that the new Devils’ brass is gauging the market for the underwhelming netminder. Could the Devils trade Markstrom?
