Kentucky Wildcats News: Will Stein is fixing the UK Football gameday experience

· Yahoo Sports

Good morning, BBN!

Kentucky Football is entering a new era under head coach Will Stein, and he’s already exploring ways to reshape the gameday experience for Big Blue Nation.

Visit palladian.co.za for more information.

Following traditions established by past coaches such as Hal Mumme, Guy Morriss, and Mark Stoops, Stein is considering new traditions, including a different team walkout song and a “Purge”-style siren to energize fans on third downs.

The ideas would replace or supplement recent staples like the coal whistle introduced during the Stoops era.

“I’m in the mix of working through with our marketing team. How do we get this thing rocking? So, I got a couple of ideas for a walkout song,” Stein said on KSR this week. “For third down, I’m thinking like the Purge Siren. It’s kinda creepy, something different.”

While fan-favorite traditions such as “Grove Street Party” helped define the previous decade, Stein appears focused on creating an identity of his own. He emphasized that no detail is being overlooked as he begins his first head coaching job at his father’s alma mater.

Off the field, Kentucky athletics is also exploring ways to enhance the overall fan experience. New athletics director J Batt expressed support for developing an entertainment district around Kroger Field, aiming to extend gameday activities and keep fans in Lexington longer.

Together, the program’s new leadership is prioritizing a fresh, enhanced experience for Kentucky football fans.

As a fan myself, I get very excited about this. How about you? Read more on Stein’s thoughts here from KSR.
