According to UFL insider James Larsen, Detroit is signing former Houston Gamblers wide receiver Lawrence Keys III, marking the fourth UFL receiver the team has added this week.
Keys fills the roster spot opened when the Lions waived wide receiver Kyre Duplessis on Wednesday night.
Dynamic Playmaker Joins Lions
Keys spent the past two seasons with the Houston Gamblers and enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2026.
The former Tulane standout finished second in the UFL in all-purpose yards, making an impact both as a receiver and return specialist. He totaled 349 receiving yards while also posting 518 kick return yards and 134 punt return yards.
His versatility could make him an intriguing addition for a Lions team looking to replace some of the production lost when Kalif Raymond departed this offseason.
Another UFL Addition for Detroit
Before joining the UFL, Keys briefly spent time with the Buffalo Bills after going undrafted in 2024. A leg injury during training camp ultimately ended that opportunity, though he did appear in one preseason game and recorded a 13-yard reception.
Keys now joins a growing list of UFL players added by Detroit this week, including Tay Martin, Tarik Black, and Lucky Jackson.
Like those players, Keys will face a difficult path to a roster spot in a receiver room led by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.
However, his return ability may give him a legitimate opportunity to stand out when training camp begins.
