Former Vikings QB named as a potential MVP candidate

· Yahoo Sports

The Minnesota Vikings need to see some bounce back from their quarterback play in 2026 after a rough 2025 season that saw them flounder due to a lack of help. They enjoyed having Sam Darnold in 2024 because he was someone with the tools to be a top-end quarterback, and now he finds himself coming off a Super Bowl win.

But could more be on the horizon for their former starter?

Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon wrote up a list of MVP candidates and included the former Vikings signal-caller. He writes, "A journeyman until recently, Darnold was among the league leaders in turnovers last season. He also faces an incredibly high bar after Seattle's Super Bowl LX win in the 2025 season, and he's working with yet another new play-caller following Klint Kubiak's departure. . .Still only 29 and with limited mileage, Darnold could be building up toward his best season yet. He's got plenty of support on both sides of the ball, and his confidence level could be sky-high coming off that Super Bowl run. The ingredients are there for a former top-three pick."

The Vikings fanbase was burned when they had to watch Darnold win a Super Bowl. If he follows that up with an MVP award, then the proverbial torches and pitchforks may be coming out.
