Retiree Darlene M., of Cavan, Ont., couldn’t wait to tell her sister after winning a Lotto 6/49 worth $16 million in the Gold Ball Draw on May 30.

“I checked it using the OLG app and ran inside the house to tell my sister right away,” Darlene, 63, told OLG.

“I had to make sure what I was seeing was real,” she said. “I was shocked! It’s hard to wrap my head around this.”

“I shared the news with the rest of my family, and they were all also in shock and disbelief,” Darlene added.

She plans to pay some bills, purchase a new truck and help her children buy a home.

“I’d also like to support animal welfare initiatives that are important to me,” Darlene told OLG.

The winning ticket was bought at Giant Tiger on Lansdowne St. W. in Peterborough.

Peterborough man aiming for early retirement after $12M lotto win

Bradley V., of Peterborough, is in the right business after winning a Lotto 6/49 prize worth $12 million in the Gold Ball Draw on June 6.

The financial planner was checking his emails one Sunday morning when he noticed a message from OLG.

“I logged into my OLG.ca account to investigate further and thought there had to be a mistake,” Bradley told OLG.

“I put on my reading glasses and checked the information again,” he said. “Eventually, I realized it was legitimate and the win was real.”

“I was in disbelief and couldn’t focus for the rest of the day,” Bradley added.

The 47-year-old father of three shared the exciting news with his kids by showing them screenshots of his winning ticket.

“Their mouths dropped open in shock,” he told OLG. “They were completely speechless.”

“I also told my mother. She was overwhelmed by the news and said, ‘I have to pinch myself — I must still be dreaming!'”

Bradley said plans to continue working for now.

“I hope to retire a little earlier than planned so I can spend more time enjoying life with my family,” he said.

Other than supporting his family, at the top of his wish list is a new vehicle — possibly an Audi or a BMW.

The winning ticket was purchased on OLG.ca.
