The Nighthawks opened the scoring in this game with two in the top of the first, but West Lyon would get them back on an RBI single to center and tied it on a sacrifice fly that was caught by the catcher after she crashed into the netting and no one covered home.

Next inning, B-H/RV scored two more on a little league home run off a bunt. The umpire ruled the West Lyon player hit the ball before it went foul, but nobody reacted and eventually the ball was thrown into center field and the Nighthawks led 4-2.

That would mark the turning point because West Lyon outscored them 11-1 the rest of the way as they end up the victors of this game and will be top-seed in their substate bracket as well.

The Cats will take on the winner of Monday’s West Sioux and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn game on Wednesday, July 8th with first pitch set for 7:00 p.m.
