3 Cavaliers Who Could Be Traded as Free Agency Begins

With free agency officially starting on Tuesday, here are three players who could be trade candidates for Cleveland this summer.
Max StrusMax Strus has been a key piece of this iteration of the Cavaliers roster, but the organization is reportedly already exploring the idea of trading the forward sometime this summer.
Trading Strus this offseason makes sense for the Cavaliers for several reasons.
One of the key motivations for why Cleveland could explore trading Strus comes down to finances. He owes $16.6 million next season, and moving on from the veteran could give the Cavaliers some more financial flexibility in potential trades or free agent signings.
Given that the mid-level exception is roughly $15 million, Strus could also be a candidate in the event that the Cavaliers figure out a way to pull off a sign-and-trade for one of the free agents.
There’s also the fact that Strus remains a solid role player and likely has decent trade value. Cleveland isn’t going to get back a king’s ransom for him, but a future draft pick with some worth is realistic.
Dennis SchorderDennis Schorder is another player the Cavaliers have reportedly discussed trading this offseason.
Similar to Strus, trading Schroder could be a smart move for the Cavaliers in terms of what it could do for the salary cap. The veteran guard is due to make $14.8 million next season.

Trading Schroder also makes sense, considering the amount of guard depth the Cavaliers already have on the roster.
Cleveland already has Donovan Mitchell, James Harden (assuming he re-signs), Craig Porter Jr., Tyrese Proctor, and newest draft pick Meleek Thomas.
There just simply isn’t enough playing time to go around with all of Cleveland’s guards. The Cavaliers will need to address this logjam at some point.
Jaylon TysonThe Cavaliers are already thin with their forward depth. With that in mind, why would Cleveland move on from someone such as Jaylon Tyson?
Well, if the Cavaliers are going to get something of value in a potential trade, they’ll need to give up something of value, too.
Tyson had a breakout season last year and was even named a Rising Star. He’s still just 23 years old and has a ton of potential to be a quality 3-and-D player for a long time.
Cleveland should not be looking to trade Tyson this offseason.
However, they don’t have much draft capital that an opposing team would want in a potential big move, so Tyson could represent the piece needed to get a trade done.
