Jaylon Jones' tenure with the Colts
The Colts selected Jones in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft. He was the 223rd selection overall.
Recapping Jaylon Jones' 2025 season
After playing 788 snaps as a rookie in 2023 and then 1,146 snaps in 2024, Jones' playing time in 2025 was significantly reduced. In part, this was due to him missing roughly half the season with an injury he sustained in Week 1.
But in addition to that, Jones' role on defense was much smaller. In Week 1, he was only contributing on special teams. From Week 10 through 18, he made only two starts and otherwise came off the bench.
Jones finished the season allowing 15 completions on 26 targets (57.7%) at 11.7 yards per reception with two pass breakups and three penalties, per PFF.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Jaylon Jones
Although Jones has been a mainstay in the Colts' secondary for much of his career, his roster spot this season does appear to be in jeopardy.
What we know is that Charvarius Ward, Sauce Gardner, and Justin Walley account for three roster spots, which leaves two or three up for grabs. Competing for those roster spots are Jones, Mekhi Blackmon, Cam Taylor-Britt, Johnathan Edwards, and Cameron Mitchell.
Of those five players, two or three likely won't be on the final roster.
