Why was England’s Jarell Quansah given a red card vs. Mexico?
· Yahoo Sports
England will have to play the rest of their highly-anticipated Round of 16 match against Mexico with 10 players due to Jarell Quansah's second half red card.
On Sunday, England took a 2-1 lead out of the half in an electric match to decide which country would move on to the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals. Unfortunately, things got a bit harder for England after Quansah slid into Mexico's Jesús Gallardo with his studs up at the 52 minute mark, knocking the outfielder over with the collision. Though not called a red card immediately, after review the referees deemed the action worthy of an ejection.

Unlike Folarin Balogun's questionable red card a few days ago, this one for Quansah looks pretty justified in real time as well.

If England were to advance past Mexico in the Round of 16, Quansah would not be eligible to play in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately for England, King Charles probably doesn't have as much sway with FIFA to reverse this one.
