Confirmed: Real Madrid re-sign Carvajal namesake after impressive spell at Valladolid

Earlier in the summer, Real Madrid fans had to bid adieu to one of the club’s longest-serving members and captain, Dani Carvajal.

The Spaniard left the club after seeing out his contract at the Bernabeu, creating a gaping hole in defence that is expected to be filled up by new signing Denzel Dumfries.

But it appears the Carvajal name refuses to leave the Bernabeu, as Real Madrid are on the verge of re-signing his namesake.

Real Madrid buy back Carvajal

Real Madrid have informed Real Valladolid of their decision to exercise the buy-back clause for the federative rights of striker Angel Carvajal, the lower league club has officially confirmed.

The 22-year-old moved to Valladolid last summer, but Real Madrid retained a buy-back option as part of the transfer agreement between the two clubs.

Valladolid confirmed the development through their official channels, bringing an end to Carvajal’s time at the Blanquivioleta club.

Carvajal is already back at La Fabrica and will be plying his trade with RM Castilla for the season ahead.

Carvajal’s move away from the Bernabeu proved to be a productive one, with the young striker showcasing his potential during his time in the reserve setup.

His performances clearly did not go unnoticed by Real Madrid, who have now moved decisively to bring him back into the fold.

Valladolid, for their part, were warm in their farewell, thanking the player for his “professionalism, commitment and dedication” during his spell at the club.

“This will always be his home and we wish him the greatest success, both personally and professionally,” the club stated.

During his time at Valladolid’s youth setup, Carvajal had racked up as many as 20 goals in just 32 matches and even made four appearances for the senior side in the Segunda Division.

It will be interesting to see whether he can continue that development at RM Castilla and go on to earn a place in the Real Madrid senior squad in the near future.
