6 Former Seminoles on NBA Rosters as Summer League Heats Up

· Yahoo Sports

As the NBA Summer League heats up and begins play on Thursday, draft picks, G-League players, and second-year veterans will play in the Vegas summer league for the next 10 days.

10 days to get in game shape after the off-season and to make an impression on the big club to earn a spot on an NBA roster. Among those seeking a future on the NBA hardwood are six former Florida State basketball stars.

Darin Green Jr.

Darin Green Jr. (Dallas Mavericks) played two seasons with the Seminoles under former coach Leonard Hamilton. One of the prolific 3-point shooters at the collegiate level, Green played 64 games with Florida State. Green owns the seventh and ninth spots on the school’s all-time in 3-point shots made. He scored in double figures in 19 of his final 32 games as a Seminole, and averaged 11.3 points per contest. Green also played international ball in Israel.

Chauncey Wiggins

At 6-foot-10, Chauncey Wiggins (Boston Celtics) was Florida State’s Iron Man, having played in 105 games for the Seminoles, and one of the most experienced players on the team. Last season, Wiggins posted 85 made 3-pointers while averaging 13.3 points per game. Against SMU, Wiggins scored 31 points and hit six 3-pointers in 37 minutes played. Wiggins shot a spectacular 85 percent from the free throw line.

Rob McCray V

Rob McCray V (Los Angeles Lakers) showed versatility at Florida State with his ability to play both guard spots. As the leading scorer for the Seminoles last season, McCray scored at a 16-point clip on his way to earning third-team All-ACC honors.

Lajae Jones

Lajae Jones (Golden State Warriors) averaged 12.7 points for the Seminoles in the 2025-26 season. In the ACC tournament, Jones averaged 21 points in two games against the Cal Bears and the Duke Blue Devils. Against Georgia Southern, Jones scored 36 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, four steals and three assists.

John Butler Jr.

John Butler Jr. (Milwaukee Bucks) was a one and done player at Florida State in the 2021-22 season, where he averaged five points per game, three rebounds and one block per contest. At the completion of his freshman season, Butler announced that he would turn pro. Last season, Butler played for the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks G-League team.

Jamir Watkins

Jamir Watkins (Washington Wizards) averaged 17 points per game for the Seminoles in the 2024-25 season, and earned second-team All-ACC honors. In 2025, Watkins scored a season-high 30 points against Rice, and a high of 11 rebounds vs. Syracuse.

All the players above are talented and have achieved different levels of success in the game of basketball. The NBA Summer League is an opportunity for these draftees and veterans to show what they can do and maybe, by the grace of God, they can still be around when the season starts for real in October.
