Bayern Munich ready to use roster flexibility to backup central midfield
· Yahoo Sports
Make no mistake, Bayern Munich is far deeper entering 2026/27 than it was last season.
However, if you peer over at the central midfield group, you will only find three warm bodies — Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Tom Bischof.

So, what gives? Will Bayern Munich add anyone else into that talented mix? Apparently not, per Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg:
🚨🆕 At this stage, FC Bayern are not planning another major signing for the No. 6/No. 8 position.
Internal planning is currently based around Kimmich, Pavlovic and Bischof, with Laimer and Brown as additional options. Musiala and Karl can also play deeper if required. The priority is to complete Bara’s permanent transfer after his loan spell.
Bayern are keeping an eye on market opportunities, but there are currently no talks or negotiations with any candidates for Leon Goretzka’s position.
While it seems unlikely that Vincent Kompany would use Jamal Musiala or Lennart Karl in a deeper role, Laimer, does, indeed, have the necessary experience and chops to join the group if needed. Laimer, of course, will start at right-back, but has played extensively in the central midfield during his career and likely still considers himself a central midfielder by trade.
As for Brown, the former Eintracht Frankfurt star has only played four games in the central midfield for his career, so his viability could be questioned. Bayern Munich also has youngsters Bara Sapoko Ndiaye and David Santos Daiber in the mix as well.
