Palace City Juniors to face Watertown in Class A Legion playoff series

Jul. 19—MITCHELL — The Palace City Post 18 Juniors will hit the road for the Class A Junior Legion baseball playoffs, taking on Watertown on Wednesday and Thursday for a berth in the state tournament.
Palace City earned the No. 12 seed, while Watertown is seeded No. 4. The best-of-three series begins with Game 1 at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Watertown Stadium, while Game 2 will be played at noon Thursday. The if-necessary Game 3 would then follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Palace City was 25-18 overall in the regular season but 8-11 against South Dakota Class A teams. Watertown had a record of 31-20 overall and 20-10 against Class A squads. The two teams met on July 15 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, with Watertown winning the games 6-3 and 5-3.
The seven first-round series winners will join 10th-seeded Sioux Falls East in the Class A state Junior Legion tournament, starting July 30 at Harmodon Park in Sioux Falls.
