Charges in Toronto, Ajax human trafficking probe; 4 charged in drugs-guns seizure

Toronto Police have charged a man and a woman in connection with a human trafficking investigation in Toronto and Ajax.
In March, cops alleged that, through a combination of deception, coercion and control, the accused trafficked a 27-year-old victim.
It’s alleged that the money earned by the victim was surrendered to and kept by the accused, who took the victim to different locations to meet clients to perform sexual services.
On Thursday, investigators executed a search warrant in Toronto. Nygel Wright, 30, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with 12 offences, including eight that are trafficking-related, two firearm-related, and one count each of assault and uttering threats cause bodily harm.
Also on Thursday, investigators executed a search warrant in Ajax. Kristin Hendren, 34, of Ajax, was arrested and charged with five trafficking-related offences.

4 charged in Durham drugs and weapons probe
Two men and two women are facing multiple charges following an investigation by the Durham Regional Police Guns and Gangs Unit that wrapped up on Friday.
Cops were looking into a male alleged to be in possession of a firearm and involved in drug trafficking.
The male suspect and a female were found in a vehicle in Ajax and taken into custody. Police said they found and seized more than 3 kg of suspected fentanyl.
A search warrant was later executed at a Pickering residence and a second female was located in the residence and taken into custody.
Police seized a loaded firearm, confirmed stolen from Georgia, with a prohibited overcapacity magazine, and a replica Uzi firearm from the residence.
On Sunday, a fourth outstanding suspect turned himself into police.
Jaelin Jared Gamble, 25, of Pickering, and Natasha Marie Rotta, 32, of Ajax, are both charged with possess schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl).
Allyson Mae Adams, 27, of Pickering, and Isaiah Derrick Adams, 25, of Pickering are both charged with possess firearm obtained by crime, possess restricted/prohibited firearm – no licence, possess loaded firearm and possess prohibited device.

Federal offender wanted on Canada-wide warrant
The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is asking for the public’s help in finding a federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant as a result of a breach of their statutory release.
Evan Haney, 29, is described as Indigenous, 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, with a fair complexion, brown hair and hazel eyes. He is known to wear brown-rimmed glasses and has numerous tattoos including a Toronto Maple Leafs logo on the left side of his neck, a basketball on the right side of his neck and 519 on his throat and nine finger, hand, wrist, elbow and forearm tattoos.
Haney is currently serving a two-year and three-month sentence for nine offences including break-and-enter and assault with a weapon and is known to frequent the Kitchener and Midland areas.

Hamilton Police hate-crime statistics show 12% increase
Hamilton Police have released hate-crime statistics for 2025 , including 332 hate/bias incidents and 138 criminal offences — a 12% increase from the previous year.
Cops said that the majority of occurrences were racially motivated, followed by incidents involving religion and sexual orientation.
Police said that the Black, Jewish, and 2S&LGBTQIA+ communities were most frequently impacted. Meanwhile, hate-motivated graffiti accounted for 54% of the 138 hate crimes reported in 2025, making it the most common type of hate crime.
“Hate crimes and hate incidents can have a lasting impact on victims and the communities they target,” Hamilton Police Chief Frank Bergen said in a statement. “By reporting these incidents, supporting those affected and working together, we can build a safer, more inclusive Hamilton where hate is not tolerated.”
A final report with recommendations is expected in December.
“Together, we can break the cycle of hate. It starts with listening, learning, and standing up for each other,” Bergen said.
Toronto man charged with stunt driving
A 21-year-old Toronto man is facing charges after allegedly stunt driving and fleeing police in Oshawa.
On Thursday, at 8:05 a.m., Durham Regional Police said they initiated a traffic stop in the Coldstream Dr.-Ritson Rd. area after observing an Acura sedan operating in an unsafe manner.
Police alleged that the suspect vehicle failed to stop, fled from police, lost control and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles.
The driver then attempted to flee the vehicle on foot, before being taken into custody by officers.

Durham cops investigating head-on crash
Durham police continue to investigate after two people suffered serious injuries following a head-on vehicle collision in Whitby last week.
On Friday at around 2:15 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Lake Ridge Rd. and Hwy. 407.
Police said that a Hyundai SUV was travelling southbound on Lake Ridge near the 407 while a Mitsubishi SUV was exiting the 407 off-ramp.
Cops said that the Mitsubishi SUV appeared to enter the intersection, causing the Hyundai SUV to veer out of its lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Dodge minivan travelling northbound on Lake Ridge.
The 24-year-old driver of the Hyundai SUV suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
A 77-year-old passenger in the Dodge minivan suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
The 69-year-old driver of the Dodge minivan suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local area hospital.

Hamilton cops charge 8 drivers with impaired driving offences
Hamilton Police charged eight drivers with impaired driving-related offences over the weekend.
The incidents occurred across the city and included traffic stops, motor-vehicle collisions, reports from concerned members of the public, and information shared by a partner police service.
In one incident, police said that a driver was located after their vehicle ended up in a ditch. In another incident, a driver failed to stop at an intersection, causing a collision that sent another motorist to hospital with minor injuries.
Officers also located a driver unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle in the middle of the roadway after receiving a report from the public.
