Fans take in final World Cup watch party at Power & Light

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the second time in its country’s history, Spain has won the World Cup.
Power and Light hosted major watch parties for the world’s largest tournament for the last five and a half weeks.

“I love Lamine Yamal, and I’m super excited to be alive and watch his career progress from the very beginning, and I’m really super happy,” Spain fan Clare Meter said. “It’s been so cool watching the World Cup in my city.”
For some fans, even though they’re not from Spain, can say that they were born into it as they lean on family and experiences to pave their fandom.
“I feel good,” Mikey Walzl said. “I’m from America, my mom’s half Spanish, so I was like, might as well root for Spain, and I went to Spain over the summer, so it feels good.”
Although, when it comes to sports, people always leave disappointed. For some, they saw this one coming before extra time.

Now that the World Cup has come and gone, with 104 matches, six of which were in Kansas City, fans tell FOX4 that they’re pleased with how the World Cup went in North America.
“We were in France for the World Cup in 2022,” Argentina fan Ethan Holtman said. “Being in Kansas City, being around home for 2026 has been amazing. I’m very proud of how the United States handled the World Cup.”
