The Miami Dolphins have been undergoing some major roster reconstruction this offseason, cutting ties with a bunch of expensive veterans.
All of their roster moves have created well over $100 million in dead cap hits over the next two seasons. But, even with limited money to spend, the Dolphins do have the means to sign some players to big deals.
They did so with Malik Willis and De'Von Achane, and now, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins have agreed to a contract extension with All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks worth $51.3 million over the next three seasons.

"Sources: The Dolphins and All-Pro LB Jordyn Brooks have agreed to a 3-year, $51.3M extension with $35M guaranteed in a deal done by @ErikBurkhardt of @RocNationSports," Schultz reports.
This $51.3 million contract extension for Brooks is a huge one, as he's now going to make $17.1 million per season from the Dolphins on this new deal. It's just ahead of Zach Baun's deal from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Going by AAV, Brooks is now the fifth-highest paid off-ball linebacker in the NFL, just behind Azeez Al-Shaair and just ahead of Baun.

This past season, Brooks, the 28-year-old linebacker, was a first-team All-Pro. He led the NFL with 183 tackles and 99 solo tackles, while also recording 3.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and three passes defended.
It was a big season for Brooks, and he's now earned a major contract extension from the Dolphins to keep him in Miami for the next three seasons at a lofty $17.1 million per-year.
Miami might not have the most money to spend this offseason, nor the best roster. But, they're keeping a few core players locked up long-term.
Now, the Dolphins have agreed to contract extensions with Achane, Brooks, and Aaron Brewer this offseason. Along with signing Willis to be their quarterback, the Dolphins have seriously invested in this team's core players.
